The World of Acariel

Acariel Continents - Campaign Start.PNG

Forming over thousands and thousands of years, the world is split up into seven major continents with an additional independent region that cannot be tamed.

To the northwest we have Eochias; the home of the giant-folk. Due to their need for more space than the average creature they found it better for themselves and others to isolate themselves in a land of their own and found the diverse climate of Eochias an ideal location to spread out.

To the northeast, Esis; A remote land that people go to when they want to get away from the more populous areas. The climate is rather cold compared to the rest of Acariel so it makes for a nice escape from the land to the South. When people return they tend to come back with a lot of stories of strange things happening to them. It is rumored to have close ties to the Fey Realm.

Just to the South of Esis lies the Shadow Atoll, an unclaimed island zone due to the dangerous nature of being within, preventing any nation from claiming it. Most people do not return, but those lucky enough to leave speak of encounters with dangerous elemental creatures that they barely escaped. It is rumored to be a hot spot for treasure because of all the fallen adventures thinking they were strong enough to escape.

On the other end of the Shadow Atoll is Ufira; a mostly tropical land with it becoming drier as you head South. Much like the giantfolk, many of the nature-loving creatures and animal-folk decided to inhabit this land and keep it as free and open as possible.

Covering most of the South of Acariel is the continent of Amuin, a baron wasteland where life is difficult to sustain; on the surface. Life has moved underground across most of the land making it an ideal place to stay out of sight and keep hidden. Not many people go to Amuin for leisure, mostly for business.

If you want leisure, the Isles of Aror are your place to go. Spread out across the Isles are numerous vacation destinations from campsites to full resorts in anything from the top of a mountain to right by the beach.

In the middle of Acariel are two closely located and related continents. East Aberon, separated from its larger counterpart by the Middlefell Strait, decided long ago to distinguish itself seeing as how it is technically its own land and not attached to Aberon any longer. It has many coastal towns and is partly covered in the Foggy Glades, a swamp-like region that it shares with Aberon.

Aberon, the largest continent of all, split nearly in half by the Sancaster Mountains has many large kingdoms, and even empires, with numerous villages, towns, and cities incorporated. People from all walks of life claim their home here. With such large populations it is no secret that a lot of politics are involved both within and without.

The Making of Acariel

01 Draw Basic Pangaea Shape

In wanting to create a world of my own I sought out how Earth came to have the land masses we have today and phased out how a new world would form.

First, I just sort of started out with a blob to use as a land mass. I knew that there were a lot of steps to go so just a random shape would suffice at this stage.
